Why we exist.

How a coaching idea became India’s first model civil service exam for school students.

A discovery that changed our direction.

Race2Excellence began in 2016 with a simple coaching idea and an uncomfortable discovery. The students reaching us came almost entirely from families who could afford early guidance, while bright children in government and rural schools had often never heard that the civil services were open to them. The UPSC’s own vision is a service drawn from every corner of India. We decided our work should mirror it.

So we went to the grassroots: foundation courses inside Kerala’s schools, materials priced for every family, and in 2017 the Race2IAS Model Civil Service Exam, built so that any school student from Class 6 could test their aptitude for the IAS on a real national stage. Ten editions and 1,00,000+ aspirants across 24 states later, the movement is just getting started.

One ecosystem: alongside the exam, Race2Excellence runs school and college IAS foundation courses, Project GEMS and the Spark Civil Service Camp.
  1. 2016

Race2Excellence is founded in Kochi and chooses the grassroots over the comfortable market.

  2. 2017

Edition 1 of Race2IAS, India’s first model civil service exam for school students.

  3. 2019–22

The exam goes national, with students from 24 states. The Delhi learning tour becomes the destination every aspirant dreams of.

  4. 2024–25

Editions 8 and 9. Personality Test panels sit in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kottayam; winners come from Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.

  5. 2026

Edition 10. Ten years of inspiring India to lead, with 1,00,000+ aspirants and counting. Prelims: 14 November 2026.
